Being aware of flight configuration, weight and center of gravity is of particular importance when a helicopter is operated with external loads. Our cargo hook weighing systems can help to provide information to assess weight, center of gravity and feasibility of an external load operation, or simply provide a billing information for external load operators with weight-dependent bulk cargo rates. While some of our own external load systems include a weight measurement system as a standard feature even in their simplest variant, many third-party external load systems can be retrofitted.
Approved cargo hook retrofits are available for the EC135 and EC145 cargo hook systems, and solutions for other types can be provided upon request.
Accurate and reliable
The ecms load measurement systems attain accuracy levels comparable to state-of-the-art lab equipment when working in a closed invironment - but even under realistic flight conditions, precise readings of external loads are no problem.
Temperature compensation techniques, digital signal processing and filtering algorithms and a modern system architecture are features that help providing stable, accurate and reliable weight measurement systems.
EMC response and operation in adverse environmental conditions has been assessed extensively during the development of our weighing systems
Sophisticated in design, simple to use
The BWS weighing systems series is lightweight, compact and easy to install. On EC135 and 145 helicopters, the load display is included within the cockpit central display. No additional display units or instrument rack space are required.
Various tare functions, volatile and nonvolatile, based on electronics or mechanical, have been implemented by ecms.
Further functional additions are on the way, so watch out for the most recent news from the ecms design office.
